Cryptographic services in an MCP environment are provided through the following software components:
-
MCAPISUPPORT library
-
CryptoProxy
The MCAPISUPPORT library provides the MCP’s cryptographic API to user applications and MCP system software. The CryptoProxy serves as the cryptographic engine. Cryptography services depend on Security Center to generate and manage encryption keys and certificates.
Cryptographic services are used by the following MCP security protocols and services:
-
DMSII Encrypted Backups
-
DMSII Database Encryption, Field Level and Structure Level Encryption
-
IP Security (IPsec)
-
Kerberos
-
MCP TapeStack Utility
-
Media Encryption
-
Secure Shell (SSH)
-
Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), also known as Transport Layer Security (TLS)
Note: Support for TLS 1.0 was deprecated on June 30, 2018. You can enable support for TLS 1.0 using the TCPIP OPTION (TLS10) option. -
Web Transaction Server (WebTS)
-
Wrapped File Encryption
