Using disk encryption can result in lost or irrecoverable data if you do not use the proper processes and safeguards for backing up and securely protecting disk encryption keys. Unisys cannot recover data from an encrypted pack if the original disk encryption key used to encrypt the data is corrupted or destroyed.
Your organization is responsible for establishing a process to make a backup copy of all disk encryption keys and storing the copy in a safe, secure location. Also, the security of the data on an encrypted disk depends entirely on the security of the key used to encrypt it. The process (and the password) used to back up the disk encryption keys should include checks and accountability to ensure the confidentiality of the disk encryption keys.
