Database Installation Process

The Security Center database SECURITYCENTERDB is re-created and initialized using the database installation wizard if the file *DESCRIPTION/SECURITYCENTERDB/INSTALLED is not present when the Security Center software is executed. During installation, a new copy of this file is created. The /INSTALLED file must be present unless the database is to be re-created.

The container file *SYSTEM/SECURITYCENTERDB/DMSIIRUNTIME contains the files necessary to establish the Security Center database and the Enterprise Database Server run-time programs needed to access the database.

During database installation, *SYSTEM/SECURITYCENTER initiates WFL jobs to unwrap the contents of *SYSTEM/SECURITYCENTERDB/DMSIIRUNTIME. It then initiates the Enterprise Database Server utilities DMCONTROL and DMUTILITY to create a database control file and database structure files. It runs the GUARDFILE utility to create a guard file and apply the guard file to certain database files.

Database files and programs are written to the disk family selected by the user when the installation is started through the Security Center database installation wizard.

Location of File *DESCRIPTION/SECURITYCENTERDB/INSTALLED

The file *DESCRIPTION/SECURITYCENTERDB/INSTALLED is placed on the disk family on which *SYSTEM/SECURITYCENTER resides. This file occupies fewer than 1000 sectors.

The *DESCRIPTION/SECURITYCENTERDB/INSTALLED file contains information, including the name of the database family, that is needed by *SYSTEM/SECURITYCENTER to open the database. The file must exist in a location that the program can determine. Under some operational conditions (with family DISK and family substitution involved), the program might not locate the *DESCRIPTION/SECURITYCENTERDB/INSTALLED file and thus cannot open the database.

Note: If you move the code file *SYSTEM/SECURITYCENTER to a different disk family, you must move the *DESCRIPTION/SECURITYCENTERDB/INSTALLED file to that same family. The code file*SYSTEM/SECURITYCENTER must be able to find the *DESCRIPTION/SECURITYCENTERDB/INSTALLED file to open the Security Center database.
