Maximum Log-On Attempts

Use the SECOPT system command LOGONATTEMPTS option to specify the number of times that users from MARC and CANDE stations are allowed to try to log-on. The default value for this option is 10.

After the specified number of attempts is reached

  • All log-on attempts at that station are rejected.

  • No usercodes are validated.

  • You must re-ready the station to again enable log-on attempts from the station.

To determine why the station is not responding as expected, enter a STATUS command from another station. For example, from MARC, enter

STATUS <station name>

After the STATUS command is entered, the following message is displayed:

Logon is prohibited until station is made READY.

If the value for the SECOPT LOGONATTEMPTS option is 0 (zero), the system allows an unlimited number of log-on attempts and the station does not become unready.
