Restricted-Access Devices Outside the Computer Room

If it is necessary to locate any of the following devices outside the computer room, their physical security should be at a level equal to that of the computer room:

  • Remote ODTs

  • Transaction Server control stations

  • Command and Edit (CANDE) control stations

  • Super-user stations

  • Printers used to print sensitive material

If it is necessary to have remote printers for your system, you might choose to protect those printers against printing unauthorized jobs. Use the Print System commands PS ASSOCIATE and PS CONFIGURE to provide this protection. For information about these commands, refer to Controlling File Access.
