Control File

The control file contains date/time stamps, which are used to ensure that the current database files are being used, and that the application programs, Accessroutines, and other database software are compatible with the database files. In addition, the control file provides database interlock control; that is, it allows functions, such as recovery, to have exclusive use of the database. The control file also stores audit control information and dynamic database parameters. The control file is created and maintained by the Enterprise Database Server software. Control File Generation shows how the control file is generated.
