File Formats

Data set file formats are affected by XE feature options as follows:

  • Minor differences exist between the file format of data sets that are declared in DASDL with the EXTENDED attribute and data sets that are declared without the EXTENDED attribute.

  • For XE data sets, there is no physical difference between the format of files that are sectioned and those that are not sectioned. However, there are more physical files when the structure is sectioned.
