The DASDL compiler, SYSTEM/DASDL, reads the source language description of the database, checks the description for valid syntax, and produces a database description file. Depending on the options specified by the user, the DASDL compiler performs other functions as well. It produces a printer listing of the source input that shows any errors which are detected, it creates an updated symbolic file that can be input to subsequent DASDL compilations, and it initiates compilation of the Accessroutines and other database system software.
