The following general restrictions apply to data sets:

  • The FIND AT operation is not allowed for data sets.

  • The FIND NEXT and FIND PRIOR operations are not allowed for embedded data sets of types standard and compact, but are allowed for ordered data sets.

  • Sets are required for embedded standard and compact data sets.

  • Bit vectors are allowed only for disjoint standard data sets without variable format.

  • Sectioning of data sets is allowed for disjoint structures only. Only disjoint compact, direct, random, and standard data sets can be sectioned.

  • A link item cannot point to a sectioned data set.
