The ENCRYPT&STACK function takes either labeled or unlabled tapes and copies data from the tapes onto a single stacked tape, encrypting the original data in the process.
ENCRYPT&STACK also supports heterogeneous media translation. This occurs when a tape is stacked to a tape media that is different from the media of the original tape volume.
The encryption method used is specified using the SETTINGS function. The passphrase supplied by the user must be supplied for a decrypt operation.
Examples
The following are examples of commands using the ENCRYPT&STACK function:
-
U TSU ENCRYPT&STACK TAPE(PASS), TAPE2(PASS) TO ENCTAP
-
U TSU ENCRYPT&STACK “J1”(P1), UNITNO=92 (CM), J2(PL) TO “MYSN”
Sample Run
The following is an example of the output of an ENCRYPT&STACK run.
U TSU ENCRYPT&STACK I2(P1), UNITNO=33(P2) TO UNITNO=32 #RUNNING 16599 ENCRYPTING AND STACKING TO TAPE [ET ] ON MT32 SUCCESSFULLY ENCRYPTED AND STACKED [I2 ] FROM MT31 SUCCESSFULLY ENCRYPTED AND STACKED [I3 ] ON MT33 ENCRYPT AND STACK COMPLETED TO TAPE [ET ] ON MT32 #ET=1:19.2 PT=0.2 IO=29.9
