This procedure returns the machine name in the MACHINE_NAME_PTR parameter.
The EBCDIC array referenced by the MACHINE_NAME_PTR pointer parameter must be big enough to hold the returned name. The maximum length of a machine name is 72 characters.
Normally, the procedure result is the length of the machine name. If an error occurred during the execution of the procedure, it returns a negative integer value.
Example
BEGIN
$ INCLUDE INTL="SYMBOL/INTL/ALGOL/PROPERTIES." 10000000 - 59999999
FILE OUT(KIND=PRINTER);
INTEGER MACHINE_NAME_LEN;
EBCDIC ARRAY MACHINE_NAME[0:71];
POINTER MACHINE_NAME_PTR;
MACHINE_NAME_PTR := MACHINE_NAME[0];
MACHINE_NAME_LEN := INSERT_MACHINE_NAME(MACHINE_NAME_PTR);
IF MACHINE_NAME_LEN > 0 THEN
WRITE(OUT,<"MACHINE_NAME = ",A*>,
MACHINE_NAME_LEN, MACHINE_NAME)
ELSE
WRITE(OUT,<"ERROR FROM INSERT_MACHINE_NAME = ",J4>,
MACHINE_NAME_LEN);
END.
