Properties View

The top-right pane of the Relational Design Center window displays the properties associated with structural elements of a database. The properties for a selected object are displayed in columnar fashion. The number of columns and their values change depending on the selected object.

Note: For constraints, dates, and views, this area of the Relational Design Center window displays input fields enabling you to define the selected item.

The following text identifies the properties associate with the various objects that appear in the tree view.

Database

The tree view presents the database schema in a hierarchical fashion. For a given server, the root node is the database. The properties view displays the following information for a database.

Property

Description

Enterprise Database Server Database Name

Identifies the name of the Enterprise Database Server Database. You cannot change the value for this property.

Usercode

Identifies the usercode of the database owner. You cannot change the value for this property.

Pack Family

Identifies the pack family of the database owner. You cannot change the value for this property.

Description File Location

Identifies the location of the database description file. You cannot change the value for this property.

Control File Location

Identifies the location of the control file. You cannot change the value for this property.

Database Update Timestamp

Indicates the date and time the database was last updated. You cannot change the value for this property.

Database Type

Identifies the database type. You cannot change the value for this property.

Data Set

The next level in the tree view displays the structures defined for the database. The properties view displays the following information for a data set:

Enterprise Database Server Data Set Name

Identifies the data set name. You cannot change the value for this property.

Alias Table Name

Identifies the name used for the SQL table represented by the data set. The alias for the global data set is GLOBALDATA.

Ignore

Indicates whether the data set is accessible to SQL queries.

Data Items (Columns and Primary Keys)

The properties view displays the following information for a column:

Enterprise Database Server Item Name

Identifies the item name. You cannot change the value for this property.

Alias Column Name

Identifies the name used for the SQL table represented by the column.

Primary Key

Designates the item or items that compose the primary key. A number greater than 0 for this property indicates the item is part of the primary key. The number also defines the position the item has in the primary key.

Ignore

Indicates whether the column is accessible to SQL queries.

Indexes (Sets and Subsets)

The properties view displays the following information for an index:

Enterprise Database Server Set or Subset Name

Identifies the Enterprise Database Server set or subset name. You cannot change the value for this property.

Alias Table Name

Identifies the name used for the SQL table represented by the set or subset.

Ignore

Indicates whether the set or subset is accessible to SQL queries.

Occurring Item or Occurring Group

The properties view displays the following information for occurring items or occurring groups:

Enterprise Database Server Data Set Name

Identifies the data set name. You cannot change the value for this property.

Occurring Item Table Name

Identifies the name used for the SQL table representing the occurring item. The alias for the global data set is GLOBALDATA.

Occurring Index Column Name

Identifies the name used for the column representing the occurrence of an item.

Occurring Index is REQUIRED

Indicates whether you want the occurring index column to be required and not a null column.

Ignore

Indicates whether the table is accessible to SQL queries.

Variable-Format Item

The properties view displays the following information for variable-format part items:

Parent Table Name

Identifies the name of the owning SQL table. You cannot change the value for this property.

Alias Table Name

Identifies the name used for the SQL table represented by the variable-format part.

Variable Format Number

Identifies the variable-format part number associated with this SQL table.

Ignore

Indicates whether the variable-format part is accessible to SQL queries.
