Installing the CVSNT Server

Eclipse comes with a plug-in already installed for the CVS Software Configuration Management system. That plug-in must connect to a CVS server in order to work properly. Follow these steps to install CVSNT server software on a Windows 2000, 2003, or XP machine. (For information on CVSNT for UNIX or Linux platforms in wiki format, see www.cvsnt.org.)

Download

1. Using Internet Explorer, go to http://www.cvsnt.org/.

2. On the right side of the screen, locate Download and select Windows NT/2000/XP/2003.

3. Select an export server from the list and click Accept terms and download.

4. Click Save and direct the file to C:\Eclipse2200Temp.

5. When the download is complete, check to see that you have a CVSNT file in the temporary folder, C:\Eclipse2200Temp.

Install

1. From Windows Explorer, double-click the downloaded file to launch the Setup Wizard.

2. Click Next to continue.

3. Read and accept the license agreement, and then click Next.

4. Click Complete to install all program features

5. To review or change installation settings, such as customer name, click Back; otherwise, click Install to begin the installation.

6. Click Finish. In some cases you are prompted to restart the computer. That depends upon whether a prior version of CVSNT was installed and which version of Windows your platform runs. Restart your computer now if requested to do so.
