Before you use JBoss in the OS 2200 environment, you must have a CIFS shared name for the OS 2200 JBoss installation. In Module 1A-2200 of the "Application Development Guide," Unisys recommends that you share the JBoss root directory as the CIFS shared name: jboss2200.
Also recommended is that you map the drive letter J: on your PC to that share and you connect as the same user (for example, OS 2200 userid/password) you used when you created the directories for the JBoss Installation on the OS 2200. The .server file for OS 2200, available for viewing in the JBoss 3.2.6 Server for OS 2200 Configuration File topic, assumes this mapping.
In a development environment, each development
group has its own copy of JBoss installed in the OS 2200 environment.
The JBoss instance runs under some person's OS 2200 user-id, who then
acts as administrator for that JBoss instance.
Attached to this project folder is an ACR that
allows each member of the development group and
the JBoss administrator to access the folder.
Eclipse and CIFS together automatically create
the necessary folders when you deploy the application/beans, using the
user-id that was used to map the drive to OS 2200 and configured in Eclipse
as part of the path to the JBoss instance on the OS 2200.
Each programmer in a development group (as well
as the development group itself) could have his or her own instance of
JBoss running in the OS 2200 environment and could act as administrator
of that instance.
Once an application/bean has been deployed, it is not necessary to have a drive mapped to a share on the OS 2200 to use a bean; however, during development, you must map a drive to OS 2200. It is mapped to a share where JBoss is installed. In a dialog box supplied by Eclipse, inform Eclipse where JBoss is installed (for example, J:\). If you disconnect the drive, Eclipse displays a message saying it cannot restore the project layout.
In a production environment, use only one user-id
for installing applications.
Once an application has been deployed, it is not necessary to have a drive mapped to a share on the OS 2200 to use a bean.
