Automatically Creating Login Scripts

The Record button automatically creates login scripts for the host account and connection by starting a Telnet session.

To automatically create a script

  1. In the Telnet Connection Settings dialog box, click Record.

A warning appears regarding the need for manual editing of the host prompts for variables changing between sessions (for example, Time Stamps).

  1. Click OK.

A warning is displayed asking if you are sure, because existing scripts will be deleted.

  1. Click Yes.

  2. Answer the prompt and click OK.

The next prompt appears.

  1. Continue until the prompts are finished.

The prompts and your responses are recorded and attached to the connection as scripts. They are also displayed in the Telnet Connection Settings dialog box in the Host Prompt and Response fields.

  1. If you need to edit one of the host prompts manually, highlight the prompt and click Edit.

The host prompt is displayed in the editing area and the Add button changes to Replace. All other buttons are disabled.

  1. Edit the host prompt and the response as needed and click Replace.

The host prompt and response are changed to the new values, the Replace button changes to Add, and all buttons are enabled.
