When you select a continuous set of characters in the COBOL editor, the number of characters selected shows in the status bar of the COBOL editor. This feature gives you an accurate count of the number of characters that are currently highlighted. To highlight text length, do the following:
Open a COBOL file in the COBOL editor.
Select text.
You can view the count of the number of characters currently highlighted in the status bar.
