When you select an editor to associate with a file in an OS 2200 project, you also are offered the list of possible character sets that are supported by the installation. This list includes 7-bit character codes supported by ISO-646, as well as the Japanese character set.
When you select a character set, the editor is displayed and updated in Unicode. The Unicode characters are translated from the OS 2200 representation using the specified translation set. When you save the edited code, the code is translated back to the OS 2200 representation before it is saved in the OS 2200 file system.
