Changing the source file format
Source files can be created in the following two formats:
- Fixed-length format
- Variable-length format
- Free format
For details about these formats, refer to " Reference support ".
By default, the variable-length format is used for creating files.
+To Change the Source File Format
- Select [Window] > [Preferences]. The [Preferences] page appears.
- Select [COBOL] > [Editor] in the left pane. The [Editor] page appears
in the right pane.
- Select the [Reference Format] tab. The [Reference Format] page appears.

- Select [Fixed Format] or [Variable Format] from [Reference Format]
- Click [OK] to close the dialog box and change the format. Click [Cancel]
to close the dialog box and ignore the change.
