If the version of the DDW Repository is not compatible with the installed version of DDW, the repository is automatically migrated to an upward compatible version.
Note: It is strongly recommended that you back up the DDW Repository before any migration occurs. Failing to backup the repository results in migration fail, and prevents you to access the repository any longer.
After you have installed a new version of DDW, the migration is triggered when you choose Connect from the Repository menu and select a DDW Repository whose version is lower than the installed version of DDW.
The Data Exchange Development Workbench dialog box appears prompting you to confirm if you want to back up the DDW Repository. Click Yes to continue with the migration. Click No to cancel the migration so that you can take a backup of the repository first.
Note: You must validate the mappings and expressions in a transformation when you migrate a repository. Refer to Importing Transformations, for information about migrating a transformation XML file.
After a successful migration, DDW connects to the migrated DDW Repository.
