SP-AMS Port Usercode Failure Messages

The SP-AMS sample database for MCP systems (MCPMon) provided with Operations Sentinel contains the default usercode/password value SPO/SPO. If SPO/SPO is not the correct usercode/password combination, as described in 2.5, you must modify the database to include the correct one.

The usercode and password are checked by the interface software to see whether the usercode is a valid registered usercode on the MCP system and the password is valid for that usercode. If they are not valid, one of the following situations applies:

The MCP sample database supplied with Operations Sentinel includes patterns to match these messages. SP-AMS alerts the Operations Sentinel Console operator when one of these usercode failures occurs, if the database MCPMon.asp is active.

Another situation that results in a usercode/password error is a timeout that occurs while the interface software waits for the usercode and password. If it does not receive a usercode and password within 5 seconds after making initial contact with the Operations Sentinel server, it sends the following message to SP-AMS and displays it on the ODT:

TIMEOUT WAITING FOR SP-AMS USERCODE/PASSWORD

After waiting an additional 25 seconds, if the interface software does not receive a usercode and password, it sends the following message to SP-AMS and displays it on the ODT:

USERCODE/PASSWORD NOT RECEIVED, PORT RECOVERED
