The interface software sends system event messages to Operations Sentinel at the same time as these messages are logged by the host system. The filter file determines which SUMLOG major,minor types of messages are sent. If no filter file was loaded, default types are assumed.

You can specify any combination of major,minor types in the filter file that defines which SUMLOG entries are sent from the interface software to Operations Sentinel.

The interface software sends system event messages in two formats: Job Formatter and classic, as described in the following subsections. The Job Formatter format is available for log entries of any type, while the classic format is available only for certain log entries.
