An SP-AMS database can be activated by one of the following means:
SP-AMS initialization
If a database was active when the SP-AMS background process was terminated, the same database is automatically reactivated when the SP-AMS background process is restarted.
Operator
An operator can activate a database from the Automation Control table in Operations Sentinel Console.
If no database was previously active, SP-AMS processes the internal message "SINGLE POINT AMS AUTOMATION STARTED USING DATABASE db-name FOR SYSTEM host-id" when the database named db-name is activated. SP-AMS generates this message once for each MCP host monitored by Operations Sentinel.
Database action
A different database can be activated using an ACTIVATE action in a pattern in the currently active SP-AMS database
If an error occurs while a database is being activated, SP-AMS recovers by reactivating the previously active database.
