OM Keyin Syntax

The OM keyin follows this format:

OM[,A|C|U|X] [ {ON|OFF}/option [ /option ] ... ]
   [,{ON|OFF}/option [/option] ... ] ...

or

OM,M message-text

or

OM,W nn

where:

A

changes the operating mode to attended mode.

C

changes the operating mode to casual mode.

U

changes the operating mode to unattended mode.

X

terminates the OMKEY background run.

M

sends the specified message text to the console.

W nn

introduces delays between groups of messages when the console messages traffic rate is too high. nn is an integer in the range of 0 to 30, with a default of 0. The OMKEY data collector uses a delay of nn seconds after every 9 console messages. Start with a value of 2 to 4 seconds.

Notes:

  • The value of nn is not kept in persistent storage. Each time OMKEY is started, the delay value reverts to the default of 0 seconds. However, by keeping the value in your CP-AMS database and sending the OM,W nn keyin in response to the message Data Collect Ready, you can specify the message delay each time OMKEY starts.

  • A keyin to report on the current value of the delay is not provided.

  • The message grouping, 9 messages, cannot be changed.

  • The delay is set to TWAIT$. Depending on console and system loading, the value may vary.

option

is one or more of the following options, specified in any order:

message-text

is a read-only message sent to the console. The message can be 1 to 60 alphanumeric characters. You do not need to enclose the message in quotation marks.

If you enter OM,A or OM,C or OM,U, the mode changes and any specified options take effect immediately.

If you enter an OM command without A, C, or U, but with { ON | OFF } /options, the option changes take effect the next time someone switches the system to unattended mode. If the subsequent OM,U keyin to unattended mode also has options specified, these new options override the previously specified option changes.
