Backup and Restore Configuration

This feature enables you to take back up of the Operations Sentinel configuration on to a user defined location and restore it when required. You can save the configuration on to the local system or to an external device. This feature also allows you to schedule the backup to occur on daily, weekly, or monthly basis. You can schedule cleanup of the files that you backup as well.

Backing up the Configuration

Perform the following steps to back up the Operations Sentinel configuration:

  1. Click Start, Programs, Unisys Operations Sentinel x.y.z, and then Administrative Tools.

  2. In the Administrative Tools submenu, click Backup and Restore.

    The Operations Sentinel - BackupRestore x.y.z dialog box appears.

  3. You can either click Browse to select the folder where you wish to save the backup file, or double-click and select the folder from the pane at the top of the dialog box.

    You can view the name of the last backup file and the time when you took the last backup at the bottom of the dialog box.

  4. (Optional) Click the (refresh) icon to refresh.

  5. Click Backup.

Restoring the Configuration

Perform the following steps to restore the configuration:

  1. Click Start, Programs, Unisys Operations Sentinel x.y.z, and then Administrative Tools.

  2. In the Administrative Tools submenu, click Backup and Restore.

    The Operations Sentinel - BackupRestore x.y.z dialog box appears.

  3. Click the Restore tab.

  4. Click Browse and select the folder that contains the backup file.

  5. Select the desired file from the pane at the top of the dialog box.

    You can view the date and time when the backup file was last restored at the bottom of the dialog box.

  6. Click Restore.

Note: You can click the (delete) icon to delete the desired backup file.

Scheduling the Backup of Configuration

Perform the following steps to schedule the backup of the configuration:

  1. Click Start, Programs, Unisys Operations Sentinel x.y.z, and then Administrative Tools.

  2. In the Administrative Tools submenu, click Backup and Restore.

    The Operations Sentinel - BackupRestore x.y.zdialog box appears.

  3. Click the Setup tab.

  4. Under Backup Period, select one of the following options:

    • Daily: Backup occurs daily during the specified date and time frame.

    • Weekly: Backup occurs once in a week during the specified date and time frame.

    • Monthly: Backup occurs once in a month during the specified date and time frame.

  5. Under Backup Schedule,

    • From Schedule Starts On, select the desired date and time when you want the backup to start.

    • From Schedule Ends On, select the desired date and time when you want the backup to end.

  6. (Optional) Under Clean Up Backup Files, select the Remove backup files older than n days check box and specify the number of days to schedule the cleanup of the backup files.

    You can also click Remove Now to remove the backup files immediately.

  7. (Optional) Under Current Schedule Details, you can view the details related to the current schedule.

    You can click Clear Schedule to clear the existing schedule.

  8. Click Apply.
