Two Operations Sentinel servers receive output concurrently from managed systems when you use concurrent monitoring.
Benefits
The Operations Sentinel server obtains information about managed systems from variety of sources, some of which can provide information simultaneously to two Operations Sentinel servers. This redundant information contributes to a robust operations environment in the following ways:
Provides log data on the secondary Operations Sentinel server that is accessible even when the primary Operations Sentinel server has failed.
Enables SP-AMS automation on the secondary Operations Sentinel server if the primary Operations Sentinel server fails.
Ensures that the secondary Operations Sentinel server does not miss any data during the time that the primary Operations Sentinel server is malfunctioning, before the problem is detected.
When two Operations Sentinel servers are separated by a WAN, each Operations Sentinel workstation can connect to the Operations Sentinel server which is closer to the two Operations Sentinel servers, rather than having to connect to the single server that has the information, as in the case of hot standby.
