Note: Console messages are not logged for UNIX and Linux systems that are monitored using ping, since these messages are not sent to the Operations Sentinel server.
The following factors determine the load on your Operations Sentinel server when you log messages from UNIX and Linux systems:
Number of systems that are generating messages
Message rate for each system
Rate at which the event reports are generated for each system
Length of time that log files are kept before they are deleted
The volume of console messages and event reports from UNIX and Linux systems is typically low. To plan your storage requirements, start with 0.2 megabyte of logging per system per day.
